Ali Saleh is Senior Lecturer  at UTS teaching in Structural Engineering at both under-graduate and post-graduate levels. Subjects taught include "Stability of Structures", "Finite Elements" and "Structural Analysis". He also taught a number of general subjects covering Numerical Methods and Informatics for engineers.  Past and present research includes: Non-linear response of steel structures using Orthogonalised Load-Deflection States; Grout injection as a means of strengthening damaged offshore platforms;   Stability of Freestanding Metal Arches and development of  efficient algorithms to solve transient structural dynamics problems.  Before joining UTS in 1989, he worked for a number of Australian consulting firms and to date, his career has encompassed structural analysis, computer-aided engineering, development and application of major engineering software as well as design of a variety of structural steel frame works.  Specialising in design and analysis of steel structures, he received his doctorate degree in 1982 from the Technical University Aachen, Germany (RWTH-Aachen).
